Greg:

Butch and I would like to thank you for all you have done for our son, Patrick, and our family.

When Patrick left for Auburn, we had many concerns. He had been in a drug-alcohol program at the end of his senior year in high school. But with much hope, we sent him on to college—he did not do well. We brought him home and again he went through another program, worked for a quarter and we all felt he was ready to try college again. Much to all of our disappointment, he made wrong choices and was not successful. The support he received from the Pastoral Care and Counseling Center and Auburn United Methodist Church allowed him to stay on track with his college career.

As important as his college career is to all of us, your counseling, Auburn United Methodist Church and the program you have for the college students, allowed Patrick to obtain his college goals, mature, make good choices and continue the path to success. In the past two and a half years, we have tried many programs (two hospital based drug-alcohol programs which included out-patient counseling, Bradford In-Patient and Out-Patient, and a half-way house) for Patrick. We as parents attended Al-Anon, Nar-Anon, and personal counseling. No other program has succeeded in supporting him and keeping him on track. Words cannot express our gratitude.

Your program has also given us comfort in knowing he had a good solid support that is faith-based.

While I know that Patrick’s maturity and his desire to get help played a key role in his success, your support and the relationship built with Patrick was the missing link.

I know that we are not alone in these struggles. Many families and college students experience similar challenges. I am thankful that your program can help others and we want to continue to support your efforts.

Dear Greg:

I just wanted to thank you for all the help that you have provided me over the last year with some of the young men at the Pike House. While

serving as Chapter Advisor for the fraternity I have been overwhelmed with the many issues that face the young men in our chapter. Sometimes I feel that I have the ability the handle the situations that occur and then there are other times that I realize that I need professional help.

On the occasions that I have called upon you for direction and help, you have been a true life saver for me and the young men that were facing their challenges. I have realized that these young men are quite often at a very serious crossroad in their lives and the wrong advice could send them in a very wrong direction. Your Christian based counseling has truly made a dramatic difference in these critical turning points, but has also laid a real foundation upon which they can base future decisions upon which will make real success stories in their lives.

I can only hope that we can get the word out to other Chapter Advisors that your Counseling Center is there for them also. The burdens that all advisors carry can certainly be lightened by your professional Christian based counseling, particularly in the management of critical situations within their chapter.

Please use me as a testimony of what a difference you have made in the lives of young me that I serve at Pi Kappa Alpha. Thanks again and please let me know of any way that I might help you in the future.

Sincerely,

O.D. Alsobrook lll
